CJRS and the new JSS

Thursday 1st October 2020

October is the final month of the Government’s furlough scheme, with the CJRS to close on 31 October 2020. The Government’s wage subsidy will reduce to 60% subject to a cap of £1,875 a month, with employers now required to contribute 20% to bring wages up to 80% of salary.

From November, a new Job Support Scheme is introduced, which will run for 6 months. The JSS aims to ensure that those who work for at least 33% of their usual hours will receive at least 77% of their normal wages. However, this will not be the case for everyone, as the Government contribution is capped at £697.92 per month.
